Entitled : The Rise and Fall of The House of York by Andrew Lownie
I don’t know exactly what I expected this book to be. But it certainly did not disappoint. Andrew Lownie first made his way to my bookshelf with His book on Edward and Wallis, Traitor King. As a result, I knew that this title would be well researched and heavy on detail.
If there was a scandal that involved The Duke or Duchess of York, Mr. Lownie fopund it, researched it, and included it here. Personally, I was curious to see if he included anything about Jane Andtrews, who had worked for the Duchess before being charged with the murder of her boyfriend. He included information that was new to even this true crime loving royal watcher.
Lownie’s use of FOI requests, court documents, and interviews, lends the book a sense of authority. His background as a historian and Fellow of the Royal Historical Society is evident in his methodical approach, particularly in detailing Andrew’s financial dealings and Epstein connections. The book’s 448 pages are packed with specifics, such as the £7.5 million refurbishment costs of Royal Lodge and its £250,000 annual upkeep, raising pointed questions about the couple’s funding sources.
If you like getting into the details, this is a read for you
