Let’s Talk about Where to Stay in London
I’m looking for a new home base in London and I need your help.
Everyone who knows me knows that I adore my trips to London and I plan them meticulously. I have one hotel that is my home and nothing can convince me to stay elsewhere…until now.
I love The Clermont Victoria located on Buckingham Palace Road. During both of my adventures in London the staff at the hotel looked after me so well and treated me like family. But, like any family sometimes they can leave you in tears.
Here’s the reason I am now looking for a new home base. The Clermont has a back stairwell that takes you directly to the concourse at Victoria Station. That is also the way that I enter and leave the building as a wheelchair user. The chair lift they used during both of my stays was described to me as both the slowest rollercoaster in the world and the most temperamental lift in the city. And a bit over a year ago, the lift decided to die. As of now the management of the hotel have not replaced the lift and they don’t seem to have any plans to do so. The website currently states that the hotel is not wheelchair accessible.
This news breaks my heart because this is the first hotel and actually the only hotel I have ever recommended without giving it a second thought. The wheelchair accessible room features a wide open shower that is the shower of my dreams, and the bed is the only bed that has ever had my mom smiling in her sleep.
Due to balance and depth perception issues I no longer feel safe in a shower that is glassed in taking other hotels on the same street out of consideration for me.

As I prepare to celebrate 15 years of Royal fashion coverage and Charitable relationships I wish that I could celebrate with Tea in the Tea Lounge and Dinner at SOAK. Every experience at this hotel is elegant and yet cozy. A truly perfect spot for me.

But this is where you, my readers and friends come in. I need a hotel with a wheelchair accessible room and roll in / zero entry shower that I can call home for a few days next July. I prefer to stay close to Buckingham Palace as I now know that area well enough as to not get hopelessly lost.
If you are one of my loyal readers who does NOT have mobility issues and you want to stay walking distance from The Palace in an elegant yet cozy environment, I still recommend The Claremont Victoria with my whole heart. And believe me, if they ever restore wheelchair access to the hotel, I will be announcing my third stay the instant my travel companions confirm their availability to travel.
